A course that thoroughly covers everything required by HB-1143/I-1639, to be able to purchase a firearm in Washington state. Additionally, it is designed to be interesting and satisfying for new and experienced shooters alike. A certificate of training will be provided upon course completion.
There is no live fire in this course.
Please note that, as of March 2024, this training is also provided in our Entry Level Handgun and Ladies Entry Level Handgun classes.
What You Will Learn:
- Basic firearms safety rules
- Firearms and children, including secure gun storage and talking to children about gun safety
- Safe and efficient gun handling practices
- Firearms and suicide prevention
- Secure gun storage to prevent unauthorized access and use
- State and federal firearms laws, including firearms transfers
- Techniques for avoiding a criminal attack and how to manage a violent confrontation, including conflict resolution
Course Prerequisite:
- Must be a US Citizen, Immigrant Green Card holder, or possess a valid Washington State ID.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and legally able to possess a firearm or, at least 13 years of age with a parent/ guardian in attendance.
- Must speak and understand fluent English.
